On Thursday, May 7th
We came together at the Calgary Farmer’s Market West to hear about what happens Where One Door Opens.
With the smell of coffee and fresh pastries in the air, we welcomed our donors, partners and supporters for a morning of connection and celebration. As the room filled with caring people who want to make a difference in their community, positive energy and great conversation flowed.
reflection from Dr. Reg and Dr. Rose Crowshoe
The morning started in a powerful way with a reflection from Dr. Reg and Dr. Rose Crowshoe, elders from the Piikani Nation. Their words reminded us that no matter who we are and where we come from, we are all connected.

Where one door opens
Courtenay Hick, COO – Community Wellness, began our program by helping us understand what One Door really means. It’s about making sure the people who reach out to Trellis only have to tell their story once. It’s about listening and a commitment to collaboration, so individuals and families can access multiple types of support through a single conversation.

We also heard from Natalie Ho, Senior Project Manager with Chandos Construction, and Olivia Wick, Property Administrator from Choice Properties. They both shared their unique journeys with Trellis – starting as corporate partners and moving into something deeper and more personal. We’re grateful to them for sharing the initial door they entered through and the path they’re on now.
Finally, we learned about how one of our most unique programs is opening doors for youth. What started as a Friday afternoon game of Dungeons and Dragons has become a place for young people to make friends, build skills, and develop resilience in the face of adversity. If you weren’t in the room with us, or you just want to experience the joy and heartfelt moments again, you can watch a video about this program here.
With Gratitude
Whether you joined us in person last week or were there in spirit, we feel fortunate to have you on this journey with us. You make it possible for us to open doors for the people we serve.
We would also like to thank the Calgary Farmer’s Market West for hosting us in their beautiful space once again.
For those who didn’t pick it up at the breakfast, you’ll soon be receiving a copy of our 2026 edition of Branching Out in the mail. We hope you enjoy reading about the growth and impact that has taken place in the past year, thanks to your support.
Thank you for helping us build a community where everyone can flourish.
