A Housing First Approach
Dealing with life’s challenges can feel impossible without a safe place to call home. That’s why we work quickly to find housing for families, while helping them access the support they need to be successful long-term
Stable Housing Support for Families
Sustainable Families is a housing first program that provides intensive support for families facing homelessness.
This program helps families find and keep stable housing, access basic needs, develop life skills, access financial support and connect to other community resources and supports. Our goal is to ensure that families have the personal, social, physical, financial and human assets needed to remain housed for the long term.
In collaboration with local shelters and other community resources, we offer support to families experiencing complex needs, such as:
- Poverty
- Social isolation
- Addictions
- Mental health factors
- Domestic violence
- A history of trauma
- Child and Family Services involvement
- Connection to culture
This program supports families experiencing homelessness who are living in a shelter or couch surfing. Priority is given to families with a history of chronic or episodic homelessness who have been engaged in multiple systems and services and are facing a variety of barriers.
